Board Chairperson

Mr. Oabile Mabusa

Mr. Oabile Mabusa is a respected financial executive and policy strategist with extensive experience in central banking, public enterprise reform, and private sector development. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Bankers’ Association of Botswana, where he leads advocacy and engagement for the country’s commercial banking sector.

Prior to this role, Mr. Mabusa retired from Bank of Botswana in 2011 as General Manager, having previously held Director roles in Banking Supervision, Banking and Currency, Management Systems, and Human Resources.

His board leadership includes:

  • Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (9 years), where he helped lead the organisation’s transformation and chaired the Finance & Audit Committee
  • Public Enterprise Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA), serving as founding board member and Chair of Finance & Audit
  • Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA), where he chaired multiple committees including Finance & Audit
  • Business Botswana, serving on its Governing Council
  • Minerals Development Company of Botswana (MDCB), where he currently serves as Chairman, driving strategic diversification of Botswana’s mineral portfolio
  • SADC Banking Association, serving as Chairman on a rotating regional term

Mr. Mabusa holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Public Administration from the University of Botswana, and earned three postgraduate credentials from the University of Southern California:

  • Master’s in Public Policy
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Policy Analysis and Management
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems
