Minerals Development Company Botswana (Proprietary) Limited ("MDCB" or "the company" "we" or "us") is an investment company that holds and manages mining and minerals assets for and on behalf of the Government of Botswana. This Privacy Notice provides information on the nature of processing of the personal data we collect on this website. Personal data is information that identifies natural persons directly or indirectly.

Purpose and legal basis

Contact form:

On this website there is a contact form through which we can be reached for any enquiry. The personal data collected is limited to full name, email address and contact number. This personal data is strictly for attending to the enquiry and ultimately giving feedback. This is necessary for our legitimate interest to be available to stakeholders and to communicate effectively with them.

Cookies:

This website contains essential and analytical cookies which are impersonal. They are necessary for the functioning of the website. However, in the event that we place optional cookies on this website which identify an individual, an option to consent will be given. This consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Retention period

The personal data we collect when an enquiry is made through the contact form is retained for six (6) months reckoned from the time the matter is concluded, save for where the need arises to retain the information beyond that period. This is applicable to all enquiries made through info@mdcb.co.bw 

Recipients

We do not share the personal data collected for the purposes specified herein with any external organisations. However, the need may arise for compliance with our legal obligations.

On request and at any point, the data protection rights outlined below may be exercised by contacting our Data Protection Officer.

Should there be any impediment and/or restrictions to the exercise of these rights, we will communicate.

A complaint may be lodged with the Information and Data Protection Commission in respect of any unjustified impediment and/or contravention of the Data Protection Act.

Transborder flows of personal data

There is no transborder flow of personal data, save for instances where transfer is on account of use of Microsoft products. In that regard, the personal data is transferred to countries which have adequate safeguards (e.g. South Africa and/or European Union).
