Botswana Concludes Strategic Showcase at JCK Las Vegas 2025
Botswana concluded a successful showcase at the JCK Las Vegas Expo 2025, positioning the nation as a premium destination for luxury tourism, investment, and authentic elegance rooted in its diamond heritage.
Receiving global acclaim, President Boko was honoured with the World Federation of Diamond Bourses President’s Award for his outstanding advocacy of natural diamonds. Accepting the award, he reflected on Botswana’s deep connection to its diamond legacy:
“This is not just a personal recognition-it belongs to every Motswana. Our nation’s journey is deeply connected to the story of natural diamonds,” the President said.
“In Botswana, our diamonds are more than precious stones; they embody the heartbeat of our land, the light guiding our path to shared prosperity, and the spirit of our people.”
His words set the tone for Botswana’s presence at the world’s largest jewellery exhibition-a powerful narrative of authenticity, responsibility, and national pride.
A Nation at the Forefront of Ethical Sourcing
Botswana made a bold and brilliant statement at this year’s JCK Las Vegas Show, the world’s premier jewellery industry event, by showcasing its commitment to ethical luxury, innovation, and sustainable diamond development and tourism. The country’s delegation, led by the Minister of Minerals and Energy, included the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) as part of the national representation, drawing international attention for Botswana’s leadership in responsible mining, beneficiation, and mineral innovation.
Botswana’s participation at JCK Las Vegas was more than a marketing effort; it was a strategic declaration. As one of the world’s leading producers of natural diamonds, Botswana used the global stage to reinforce its reputation for transparency, traceability, and sustainability. MDCB’s engagement underscored the country’s vertically integrated diamond value chain from mine to market and highlighted its continued focus on local beneficiation, community empowerment, and environmental responsibility.
Minister Kenewendo Highlights Botswana’s Vision
Speaking during the event, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo, emphasised that Botswana’s participation at JCK forms part of a long-term strategy to position the nation as a global leader in ethical luxury.
“The House of Botswana is not a one-off promotional campaign; it is a strategic platform that unites all key players across the diamond value chain under a single national brand identity,” she said.
“It reflects Botswana’s broader commitment to sustainability, beneficiation, tourism, trade, culture, and inclusive socio-economic development — a vision to ensure that the value of our diamonds benefits our people and strengthens our economy for generations to come.”

Strategic Engagements and Global Opportunities
Throughout the exhibition, MDCB held a series of strategic meetings with global jewellery houses, technology innovators, and investment entities. The engagements focused on expanding Botswana’s footprint in ethical luxury markets, exploring partnerships in diamond supply, and identifying opportunities for downstream beneficiation.
MDCB also explored collaborations in digital marketing, technology integration, and skills transfer to strengthen Botswana’s diamond ecosystem. These conversations are expected to open pathways for international market access, potential establishment of manufacturing facilities in Botswana, and joint initiatives promoting local participation and citizen empowerment.
Driving Sustainable Growth and Global Partnerships
The JCK Las Vegas Show provided MDCB and the Botswana delegation a valuable opportunity to deepen existing relationships and forge new ones across the global jewellery industry. These engagements are set to advance Botswana’s goals in three key areas:
Enhancing value addition through local cutting, polishing, and jewellery manufacturing.
Promoting technology transfer and digital innovation across the diamond trade.
Positioning Botswana as both a business and tourism destination for global investors and luxury brands.
National Pride on a Global Stage
Botswana’s unified participation led by the Ministry of Minerals and Energy, with support from MDCB, BITC, and private sector partners, sent a powerful message: Botswana is not just a source of diamonds — it is a global leader in ethical luxury and mineral innovation.
