Main Purpose of the Job:
As a Specialist Engineer - Mining, you will play a critical role in the strategic management and technical optimization of MDCB’s mining investment portfolio. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the optimal deployment of resources to maximize returns, conducting thorough technical due diligence on target investments, and managing the mining technical aspects of assets throughout
the mineral development life cycle. You will work closely with stakeholders to enhance the operational efficiency of current assets, evaluate technical risks, and explore opportunities for value creation. Your expertise will contribute to making informed investment decisions and optimizing asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operationalise Strategic Initiatives: Work with various stakeholders to develop and implement technical mining initiatives to achieve MDCB’s strategic goals, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency and maximizing returns.
• Technical Due Diligence: Conduct preliminary and in-depth technical assessments on potential mining investments, identifying risks,
opportunities, and areas for value enhancement to support informed decision-making.
open-pitReview both open pit and underground mine designs, LOM plans, and operations optimisation, ensuring that CAPEX and OPEX are aligned with industry benchmarks to maximize investor returns.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, investors, regulatory authorities, and partners to provide updates on asset performance, technical developments, and investment strategies.
• Innovation and Research: Keep abreast of advancements in mining technologies and processes, providing recommendations to improve operational efficiency, reduce risks, and enhance profitability.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Mining Engineering.
• Proven experience in technical assessments, risk management, and optimizing mining operations.
• experience in both open pit and underground mining
• experience in both mine planning and mine operations
• Multi-commodity experience will be an added advantage
• Financial/Investment qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Registration with a professional body
