Pedals, Passion and Purpose: MDCB at the Morupule CEO’s Charity Cycle Challenge 2025

Palapye, Botswana – 7 September 2025

The streets of Palapye came alive with energy, endurance, and community spirit as cyclists and walkers gathered for the Morupule CEO’s Annual Charity Cycle Challenge a premier event on Morupule’s charity sporting calendar. Organised by the Morupule Cycling Club, the 2025 edition was a powerful showcase of unity, wellness, and giving back.

Riding for a Cause

As a proud sponsor, Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) joined the movement with enthusiasm and purpose. Flying the MDCB flag high, Mr. Tumisang Ncube took on the gruelling 60km cycling challenge, demonstrating resilience and determination, while Ms. Loren Mphee brought energy and team spirit to the vibrant 10km walk. Together, they embodied the perseverance and commitment that define both the event and MDCB’s values.

The challenge featured cycling routes spanning 30km to 120km along the A14, offering options for both seasoned riders and general participants. But beyond the thrill of the ride, the day was about solidarity a shared mission to make a positive difference in the community.

A Day of Unity and Purpose

The event drew participation from across the country, including corporate sponsors such as Stanbic Bank Botswana and Old Mutual Botswana, alongside government dignitaries including the Minister of State Presidency and the Minister of Water and Human Settlement. Their presence underscored the growing recognition of sports as a unifying force for community development and philanthropy.
